A parish nurse is called to serve by promoting the health and well-being of others’ mind, body, and soul to prevent illness. Our parish nurse will be from OSF Hospital. This is a free service for our parish. There is no cost to contact the parish nurse for any the following ways she can help or advocate for you or a family member.
Visit parishioners at home, in hospital, facility or St. Bridget's Parish Office to provide support and coordinate care
Do blood pressure checks & other physical assessment
Fill pill boxes at home for parishioners if needed or assist with patient or family education
Attend doctor appointments with parishioners to be an extra set of eyes and ears to bridge communication gaps and promote understanding with medical concerns
Be an advocate for parishioners when needed
Be a source of support for others and resource for community resources parishioners may need: consultant, referral agent
Refer parishioners to other health disciplines as needed (community agencies, hospice, home health, social workers, counselors, etc.) so they can get the care that they need
Provide educational support on various health topics (blood pressure, medications, health conditions, etc.)
Arrange for guest speakers to come and do presentations on health topics based on the needs in the parish
Offer classes (exercise, health topics like diabetes, high blood pressure, cholesterol)
